Why did you start your business?

After completing a 30 year career with FedEx I looked for new horizons. I came across a unique opportunity in the field of Energy Solutions.
I was also looking for a way to add some additional income that allowed me the freedom to come and go as I pleased while offering a needed service to my community.

What makes you different?

Brighter Days and Nites, Inc (BDN) is a certified minority, woman-owned business specializing in unplanned purchases. I am also the first female in the local area to tackle a business of this nature.

What does your business do to help the community?

BDN helps commercial and industrial buildings save energy. When a company becomes more energy efficient it reduces lighting cost and raises morale with increased visibility.

We also help fulfill the government mandate of eliminating poor inefficient energy wasting light. With my presence in the community as a business woman, I am trying to give young ladies hope as to become as leaders in the community, by accepting a big challenge, facing it and making a difference.

What do you like most about your community?

In the community where my business is located I feel safe. We have a police precinct north of us, a security station upon entering the complex and business owners who look out for each others.

Are you part of a community program?

Yes, Airways Lamar Business Association (ALBA).  The association has plans to clean up the Airways Lamar neighborhood for late August, just before the Southern Heritage Classic.

This neighborhood is the first neighborhood anyone sees after landing at the Memphis International Airport. It is vitally very important to the entire growth of our metropolitan region.

If you want to help out with the cleanup effort, contact the Airways Lamar Business Association at

I also like the proximity of my work community to the interstate system and the relative ease that I can get to any part of the city and surrounding areas. Plus I am only 10 -12 minutes from home.
